My name is Raja and I am living in Senthagudi panchayat Poigainallur village which is in Thiruvarur District. Here I am going to share my experience about using RTI Act which was helpful for myself and my village.

On behalf of the neglected residents of Jeeva Nagar, a CMDA-approved layout located next to AUDCO Nagar on the Mount - Poonamallee Road an application was filed under the Right to Information Act, 2005 by an activist based in Central Chennai.

My name is George A.V. I had met out injustice in the property assessment for more than 15 years (from 1992 onwards to 2007). I had followed the rules and regulations as per the Municipal Corporation Act 1919. Despite several attempts to various government officials including judiciary, executive and press for award of justice.

All my petitions were wantonly ignored in order to safeguard the biased officials. However, I have determined in my efforts to get justice.

There is a famous saying in Tamil "Thirudanai parthu thiruntha vitaal thirutai olzhika mudiyathu" by Pattukottai Kalyanasundharam. Some people's cruetly affects many honest people's life. In our area, there was people who had the habit of robbing electricity and it was not known openly. They had deviced the electric meters in such a way to support them instead of the theft.

My name is Shekar. I live near Chennai, at Echambakkam. I am also the Coordinator for 5th pillar at Chitlapakkam area.

There were streets without names in and around Chennai , when India was in a developing stage after independence. The same time , our place Echambakkam too had streets without names and they were named during this period. On 1986, there was an amendment passed to name our street as "Gandhi Theru"(Gandhi Street), as it was named to show the gratitude towards Gandhiji for his freedom struggle. But due to our people in city, the name had been modified for the mordern days as "Gandhi Avenue".

My name is Mrs. Nithya Srikumar. It was 3 months after I got married when I applied for Family card/Ration card. We produced all the documents needed along with the application. But this has been dragged for more than 3months when the officers came for further inquiries.

My name is Mr. Sughumaran. I work for Atomic Power Station at Kalpakkam as Assistant Scientist. Me and my wife planned to get divorce under mutual concern and so applied to the court for our divorce. On 30.11.2006 our case judgment was announced as the court approved for the divorce. But the problem was we were not given the copy of the case judgement. And wherever I went in asking for it, they ignored.

Sri Jayakumar of Tuticorin was in need of electricity connection for his newly constructed residence at Ittamozhi . He contacted Sri Sudalai a licensed electrician and an E B (Electricity Board) contractor who told that he would need to pay Rs. 1500/- towards additional pole to be erected. Sri Jayakumar paid the same on 11/2/2007. Despite repeated reminders no work was done till 22/02/2007 (the day after the intervention of 5th pillar).
