‘Freedom from Corruption’ campaign in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Coimbatore chapter of the 5th Pillar India, a non-profit organisation, will conduct ‘Freedom from Corruption’ campaign in rural areas.
It is aimed at sensitising people on the Right to Information Act and to enable them to fight corruption.
A release from the Secretary of 5th Pillar India, K.K. Raman said that volunteers were conducting awareness programmes to empower the citizens to obtain governmental services from various departments.
So far two programmes have been organised at Kanuvai on August 15 and a follow up session on August 24.
More than 50 rural youth participated in the programme. Advocate T.A. Selvaraj, K.K. Krishnamoorthy gave an overview of the Right to Information Act 2005 and the ways and means through which the public could make effective use of the RTI Act to get information from Government offices.
